Similan Islands 5 Days / 4 Nights. 

Start / Finish; Thap Lamu pier, Phang Nga

Similan & Surin islands offer a great biodiversity of marine life, with hard & soft coral gardens amongst huge underwater boulders creating dramatic landscapes, overhangs and swim throughs.  This destination is great for all levels of divers with something for everyone; macro, reef & schooling fish, turtles, octopus, cuttlefish, & more.  With cleaning stations that can deliver the large pelagic, manta rays & even whale sharks, plus the world-famous Richelieu Rock, even the most experienced of divers will find themselves satisfied on these Similan adventures.

Sample Itinerary

Note; all schedules are subjected to changes according to weather, sea, diving, & local conditions.

Day 1. (0 dives); Scheduled Pickup Times (between 4-7pm*), transfer to Thap Lamu pier, Phang Nga (near Khao Lak) to waiting White Manta.  Warm Welcome and Dinner served. Sail overnight to Similan Islands (sailing time between 4-5 hours)

Day 2. (4 dives); best of the Similans; 3 dives from Anita’s Reef, Boulder City, Shark Fin Reef, Elephant Head Rock, West of Eden, North Point then night dive around Similan Islands or Koh Bon.  

Day 3. (4 dives); full days diving around cleaning stations of Koh Bon & Koh Tachai

Day 4. (4 dives); full days diving around at Surin Islands and Richelieu Rock  

Day 5. (2 dives); Boonsung wreck or MV Sea Chart wreck and Premchai wreck.  Sail back to Thap Lamu pier, Phang Nga by 2pm.  Time to wash & dry equipment and have lunch.  Transfer back to hotel by 4pm/ Airport by 3pm.

Diving days: 4 days (14 dives)

Trip Schedule

  • Departure; 8-11pm, 1st Day - Thap Lamu pier, Phang Nga. Earlier if everyone arrives before.  Free* Scheduled Transfer from anywhere in Phuket or Khao Lak Center to White Manta on Trip Departure day.  Note; *see below for ‘Scheduled Pickup Times’ (transfer time 30 mins to 2.5 hours).
  • Return; 2pm, Last Day - Thap Lamu pier, Phang Nga, near Khao Lak.  Transfer to Hotel (by 4pm) or Airport (by 3pm)
  • Last dive ends; 12pm, Last Day.  Note; if you must fly the same day you will NOT be able to partake in the last 2 dives or reschedule. This is to allow for your minimum 18 hours surface interval/ No Fly Time (as recommended by PADI).

  • Note  if Trip Return; finishes in Chalong pier, then return to Phuket by 6pm. Final 2 dives schedule in Similans. Free Drop Off only in Phuket area.  Transfer to Phuket hotel/ Airport by 7pm.  Drop off to Khao Lak NOT included on Trip Return day.

Flights

  • Please arrive BEFORE 6pm if arriving on Trip Departure day for free pickup.

Travel Documents

  • Visa Exemption or Visa on Arrival (VoA); many countries now receive a free 30 days on arrival, some pay THB2,000 to obtain VoA, others will have to obtain Visa BEFORE Arrival.
  • Passport; ensure your passport is in good order, has enough pages, is valid for at least 6 months, and that you are able to enter Thailand.   Check with your local Thai Embassy if unsure.

Health & Insurance

  • Dive Insurance; compulsory for this trip.  We also strongly advise you get adequate travel insurance. Please check your travel insurance policy for your diving needs.  If not covered them we recommend DAN (Divers Alert Network) or their Asia Pacific branch.
  • Dive Computer; compulsory on this trip.  We have rentals onboard if you do not have.
  • Follow Safe Diving Practices at ALL times plus No Deco Diving and No Solo Diving.
  • Travel Insurance; please NOTE: we cannot be held accountable for airline flight changes, delays, or cancellations.  We STRONGLY advise you take out adequate insurance to cover such eventualities.  We recommend World Nomad for their flexible worldwide cover for travel insurance.
  • You should be up to date on routine vaccinations while traveling to any destination. Some vaccines may also be required for travel, while the risk is low some Health professionals recommend travel vaccines for Hepatitis A and Typhoid. South Thailand is a low risk Malaria Zone; however it is advised you take the proper precautions against malaria. The following anti-malaria drugs are considered safe with diving; Doxycycline or malarone. Mefloquine (Lariam) is NOT recommended with diving In any case, malaria in Thailand has developed resistance to mefloquine, so it is not recommended for use in Thailand. Good preventative measures include DEET and long armed/legged clothing in evenings. Internet & Mobile

  • Internet; Satellite Wi-Fi (charges apply)
  • Mobile; in recent years two mobile phone masts have been installed in the Similan & while patchy, visitors will find some mobile reception during their visit to the main nine islands. However once we sail towards North towards Koh Bon, Tachai & Richelieu mobile & internet signal is virtually non existent. If you wish to purchase a local sim card DTAC provide the best coverage & inexpensive tourist sims are available at the airport & 7-11’s. Around USD15 should be enough to provide you with your card & enough credit to
    last a week of usage.

  • By Credit card comes with 4.5% additional handling fee.
  • By Cash we accept US Dollars, Euro, Singaporean Dollars, and Thai Baht.  Please ensure ALL bills are in good order; NOT worn or torn and unmarked or we are UNABLE to accept.  Exchange rates differ for USD100/50 bills and USD20/10 bills. Current Exchange rate. ATMs available in town.
  • Fuel Surcharge; NO fuel surcharge in place at this time but may be implemented to account for any wide fluctuations.
