Welcome to the New White Manta

After an absence of almost three years, the White Manta Diving team have made our long awaited return to Singapore for our extremely popular weekend diving adventures, allowing us to introduce our beautiful new vessel, The New White Manta.

The New White Manta will be sailing to her new home in Indonesia later this year, where she will be exploring the best diving destinations the region has to offer. With incredible diving safaris to Raja Ampat, The Banda Sea, Ring of fire, Sangalaki & Halmerhera Sea on the horizion, we are all very excited about this fantastic new addition to our fleet. However before this we are so happy to be able to return to some of our favourite weekend diving destinations, departing Singapore on Friday & returning on Sunday evenings, giving us a chance to introduce the boat to old & new friends alike.

This weekend, the White Manta was heading to Tioman Island, Malaysia. As we sailed out of Singaporean waters, the first of many mouth watering meals was served up by our Thai chef inside our spacious, air conditioned indoor dining area. Whilst enjoying the sumptious feast, old friendships were re-newed and new diving buddies made as all thoughts turned to the weekend's diving adventures. After dinner, once diving equipment had been set up on our huge, purpose built dive deck, cameras prepared in our dedicated camera room & dive guides completed their dive & saftey briefings, it wasn't long until most had retreated to their hotel style cabins & gorgeously comfortable beds in order to get a good nights sleep, ready for the next morning.

Over the next two days we enjoyed six fantastic dives in the waters surrongding the island of Tioman. The dive sites here are alive with a huge variety of marine life & hard coral gardens in great shape, showing little signs of the coral bleaching that has affected so many coral reefs world wide. The diving adventures onboard New White Manta are interrupted only by more & more culinary treats as our chef works hard to ensure no one is even remotely hungry for more than a few seconds throughout the day! Diving highlights included a number of Black Tip Reef shark sightings, Turtles, Cuttlefish, Huge Pufferfish, Trigger fish, countless families of clownfish, and a beautiful juvenile longfin batfish sheltering under a particularly large table coral. During the night dive we were even treated to a number of coral cat sharks, hunting in the shallow waters, putting on a great show for a number of our luck divers. The highlight of the dining day was thought to have been acheived by a michelen star class, home made brownie served after lunch, however the mixed grill BBQ for dinner that included beef kebebas, huge prawns, chicken satay and the most succulent pork ribs ever tasted soon won the contest unanimously!

One of the great things about of Singapore dive safaris is that we often have a chance to introduce new divers to the magic of the underwater world, creating new diving fantatics to join our scuba family! This week White Manta instructor, Michael Smith completed the Open Water Diver Course with our newest White Manta diver;  Gillian Lee... from all the White Manta team congratulations Gillian, next up the Advanced Open Water Course!!!

Congratulations also to Rob Samson who completed the Advanced course this trip, under the watchful eye of instructor Jo, Rob is now officialy a navigation master!

All the team here at White Manta would like to express our sincere thanks to all who joined us on this weekend dive safari, we had great fun onboard both under the water & between dives, it was a real pleasure to meet all of you & we do hope to be seeing you back onboard in the not too distant future. Special thanks to Claus Dusemund who has been generous enough to allow us to use his stunning aerial pictures of the New White Manta.

We cant wait to welcome you all back soon!
